Permanent Ramp Installation

Access Ramp in Hemel Hempstead

The Occupational Therapist assigned to this case recommended a ramp to provide step-free access to the existing level-access front door. The new ramp needed to connect seamlessly with the public footpath, and the front access gate required widening and replacement. The client, who spends a significant amount of time on crutches, previously had to navigate their mobility scooter over the porch step, making access difficult.

Once grant approval was received, the contractor removed the existing concrete path, excavated any necessary turf, and installed the new ramp with a 1:15 gradient. A Kee Klamp railing and a new 1200mm-wide gate were also fitted to enhance accessibility and safety. The finished project looks fantastic, and the client was delighted with the completed work.

Before

The existing front access had a step that made it difficult for the client to navigate safely, especially when using crutches or a mobility scooter. The narrow front gate and uneven path created additional barriers to independent access.

After

A new permanent ramp with a 1:15 gradient now provides smooth, step-free access from the front door to the public footpath. The widened entrance, fitted with a Kee Klamp railing and a new 1200mm gate, ensures safety and ease of use for both the client and their family.
